In 2008 Vacheron Constantin launched the Quai de l’île collection. The dial construction includes a transparent mineral glass disc on which the dates of the month are inked. Existem milhares de cronógrafos de quartzo no mercado, mas o que me atraiu neste modelo no início é o mesmo que o mantém atraente ainda hoje, nomeadamente o excelente equilíbrio discreto entre a dimensão geral (39,8mm de diâmetro) e o desenho do mostrador, com a data às 4 horas e os ponteiros da complicação de cronógrafo em amarelo.
A caixa em aço e o vidro de safira manteve o relógio com um aspeto praticamente novo ao longo de anos de uso – apenas troquei a bracelete de pele por outra igual após um pequeno acidente em que o relógio saiu ileso mas a bracelete ficou danificada.
O relógio tem coroa de rosca (na foto, desenroscada) mas eu não arriscaria nada mais do que andar com o relógio à chuva. Quanto a mim, a regra deve ser usar dentro de água apenas relógios que tenham sido concebidos para tal – e este é um relógio desportivo mas não um relógio para desportos aquáticos!
A precisão e fiabilidade do movimento ETA G10.211 é muito boa. Nunca senti necessidade de acertar o relógio, sendo que isso é facilitado pelo movimento, que permite a paragem dos segundos (hacking) quando se puxa a coroa para fora.
O cronógrafo funciona como esperado, sendo que neste movimento, o ponteiro de segundos maior (amarelo) funciona apenas nessa função de medição do tempo; o ponteiro de segundos que se move em permanência é o do mostrador secundário às 6 horas.
Penso que pelo valor pedido, este é um excelente cronógrafo cujo desenho clássico resistiu bem – e continua ainda hoje a resistir – ao teste do tempo.

Pulseiras de cortiça “Museu do Relógio”

A pulseira (ou bracelete, como quiserem) é uma parte importante de um relógio de pulso. A pulseira certa pode tornar um relógio banal numa peça irresistível e o contrário é verdade: o mais belo relógio pode ficar arruinado pela conjugação de uma pulseira que nada faz por ele.

Tenho uma predileção natural por pulseiras em pele, mas reconheço que há relógios que ficam melhor com pulseiras de aço, como ainda recentemente referi a propósito de um Christopher Ward Lido. A pele o aço são, de resto, os principais materiais que encontramos em braceletes de relógios bons, bonitos e baratos. Mas há outros, como o nylon (usado nas braceletes tipo NATO) ou a borracha/silicone, vistas sobretudo em relógios de mergulho.

Hoje trago algo completamente diferente e original: uma pulseira… em cortiça! Um produto que só podia ser português e que é vendido na loja do Museu do Relógio.

Disponíveis para relógios com larguras de asas (“lugs”, os suportes das braceletes) entre 10 e 26mm e podendo ser fabricadas por encomenda, estas braceletes adaptam-se a praticamente qualquer tipo e modelo de relógio de pulso. Para que não se partam facilmente, as braceletes de cortiça não são fabricadas exclusivamente neste material; de acordo com informação no site do Museu do Relógio, têm pele de cordeiro no interior e “pele de cortiça” no exterior.

O preço oscila entre os €22 e os €32, consoante a fivela escolhida. O Museu faz envios pelo correio, podendo a compra ser combinada via email ou telefone (284 543 194).

Casio Edifice EFR-503D-1A1VEF

Muitos dos Casio de que tenho aqui falado são da gama Edifice e não é difícil perceber porquê: trata-se de peças na sua maioria muito bonitas e sempre com uma excelente relação preço/qualidade. Que é como quem diz, Boas, Bonitas e Baratas! :-)

O cronógrafo com a referência EFR-503D-1A1VEF é um destes exemplos. Este modelo em particular já não se encontra no website da Casio e mesmo uma pesquisa online revela apenas algumas unidades em lojas online, nomeadamente na Amazon – o que significa que é um modelo descontinuado.

Contudo, acho que esta é uma peça belíssima e que neste momento nem sequer encontra paralelo na gama atual da marca japonesa, pelo que se conseguir um exemplar, é uma oportunidade única.

Há aqui muito que me agrada, a começar pelo fim: o preço da ordem dos €140. Depois, temos uma peça com uma caixa em aço de 47mm de diâmetro, muito bem desenhada, com dia e data às 3H00 e escala taquimétrica que lembra – salvaguardadas as devidas distâncias – um Omega Speedmaster. Além disso, oferece resistência à água até 100 metros.

Tudo resto, está on point, desde o equilíbrio dado pela dimensão e posicionamento dos sub-mostradores até à conjugação de índices nas posições horárias ímpares com numerais árabes nas posições pares.

A bracelete em aço integrada no desenho da caixa é a cereja no topo do bolo.

Como já disse atrás, não foi fácil encontrar este relógio, mas lá tropecei nele na Amazon. Na loja UK custa £149 – mas encontrei ainda mais barato na Amazon.de, por menos de €140!

OK, e eis-me regressado após uma algo prolongada ausência. E logo com um relógio que não é B3, mas sim BBC – ou seja, Bom, Bonito mas Caro.

Entre a infinidade de funcionalidades oferecidas pelo calibre de quartzo Seiko 8X53 encontramos à cabeça a precisão de relógio atómico: o relógio liga-se à rede global de satélites e ajusta a hora e o fuso horário local de forma automática onde quer que se encontre.

A hora local pode ser visualizada em permanência num sub-mostrador de 12 horas na posição das 6h00) com indicação AM/PM autónoma (pequeno ponteiro às 4h00). Além disso, inclui calendário perpétuo com indicador de dia da semana, modo de voo e ajuste à hora de verão.

O acabamento inclui bisel cerâmico e vidro de safira. O preço de referência é que é um pouco amargo para um não-mecânico: 2.200 euros!

Não encontrei ainda este novo modelo na Amazon, mas na loja de Espanha existe uma referência funcionalmente idêntica (SSE079J1) mas com caixa e bracelete em aço por uns mais razoáveis 1.700€. O vendedor envia para Portugal com portes grátis.

While many watches today are shock resistant, they should not be subjected to rigorous activity unless proven to be able to withstand intense treatment (such as a COSC-certified chronometer). Be careful to avoid holding your watch over a wood or granite floor while putting it on. Dropping it can cause damage, and we have seen this sort of thing all too often.

If your watch crystal is scratched or has a hairline fracture, get it replaced fast — before dust or moisture seeps inside, which can do greater harm.

Don’t assume your watch is ready to join you for a dive into the ocean or pool just because it says water-resistant. We wrote about water resistance here a few weeks ago, and we suggest you scroll back and see what your watch can or can't do, depending on its depth of water resistance.

For quartz watches: If your battery dies, get it fixed. Do not leave a dead battery inside a watch or it can eventually corrode, leak and ruin the timepiece. Always take your watch to an authorized retailer or a retailer with a properly equipped service department to have the battery replaced.

Die Uhr ist von United Colors of Benetton (aber nicht eine der Bulova Uhren), die jetzt viele Male auf dem Blog vorgestellt haben (und Sie können eine Menge von Markeninformationen in meinen anderen Beiträgen finden). Bisher habe ich die Erfahrung gemacht, dass das Sortiment von United Colors of Benetton viel mehr ausgefallene und ungewöhnliche Designs enthält als die Modelle von Benetton by Bulova (die hauptsächlich verschiedene Farben und Bilder haben).

Dieses Modell, abgesehen von den rückwärts gerichteten Zahlen, folgt einem gemeinsamen Benetton-Thema für das Gesicht, mit einer Weltkarte über seine Breite (diesmal in leuchtendem Rot gegen einen matten roten Hintergrund). Es hat ein unedles Metallgehäuse, das aussieht, in einem passenden Rot anodisiert worden zu sein, und die Uhr hat auch ein rotes Lederarmband mit einer roten anodisierten Schnalle.

Die Uhr zurück ist in Edelstahl, und hat die United Colors of Benetton Name, und technische Informationen über die Materialien, Wasserbeständigkeit (10atm) und Zahlen, die ich nicht sagen kann, ob sie die Seriennummer oder Modellnummer sind.

Ich weiß nicht, wann das kommt, aber ich habe das Gefühl, dass diese Markenmodelle von United Colors neuer sind als die Bulova-Uhren, was darauf hindeutet, dass sie wahrscheinlich aus den 2000ern stammen.

Die heutige Uhr ist meine zweite Swatch Automatic in diesem Blog (die erste war im April dieses Jahres).

Die Swatch Automatic Uhren wurden 1991 auf den Markt gebracht und blieben bis 1997, als sie durch die Autoquartz-Technologie ersetzt wurden. Sie haben ein mechanisches Automatikwerk und es gibt eine Menge Informationen darüber auf meinem früheren Post.

Die Uhr hat ein weißes Zifferblatt mit schwarzen Zahlen in allen Größen und die Oberseite der 2 in 12 ist eine offene Mondsichelform mit dem gerade sichtbaren Uhrwerk. Es hat ein schwarzes Plastikgehäuse mit dem passenden schwarzen Plastikbügel, und die Rückseite ist durch sehen, also können Sie das drehende Gewicht für die Bewegung sehen.
